            SOUL WINNING AND FOLLOW UP

  INTRODUCTION:

One of the areas God want us to serve Him is in soul winning. Reaching others who does not know Christ yet and bring them to the light of the gospel.

BIBLE PASSAGES

Matthew 9:35-38 KJV

[35] And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. [36] But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. [37] Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; [38] Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. …

One of the major thing that Jesus gave His life to when he was on the earth was soul winning. He went from place to places preaching the gospel of the kingdom. He was so troubled when he saw the crowd of unbeliever,He said the harvest is plenteous but the labourers are few. He asked the church to pray for labourers ,not "contractors" not "hirelings".

The church is occupied with so many activities living the most important work undone.

 (I)   COMMAND TO WIN SOULS

       A. Jesus called disciples for soul winning

      Mark 1:16-18 KJV

[16] Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. [17] And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. [18] And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. …

    Jesus made it clear to the disciple that we was calling them to win soul,not for any other reason.

     B. Jesus delivered people for soul winning

          Mark 5:15

          And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

          Mark 5:18-19 KJV

[18] And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. [19] Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. …

      C.  Jesus commanded the disciple to win souls

            Mark 16:15 KJV

[15] And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

             Matthew 28:18-19 KJV

[18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: ….  This is the command of Christ from the onset to the disciples and the same to us.m

 (II)  CONVICTION OF A SOUL WINNER

        It takes somebody who is convicted , to share Christ with others.It is more effective than hundred of evangelism

      A.PERSONAL ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS

          1.The Samaritan woman-

           John 4:25-26 KJV

[25] The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. [26] Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

John 4:28-30 KJV

[28] The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, [29] Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? [30] Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

   Jesus didn't even asks her to go and preach,neither train her on soul winning . She went out on her own. She encounter Jesus ,the same day she became an Evangelist,and won the whole city to Jesus. That is the power of personal encounter.Lets pray and work on giving them a personal relationship and experience.

       2. THE MAN OF GADAREN.

            Mark 5:15 KJV

[15] And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

       Mark 5:18 KJV

[18] And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

[19] Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. [20] And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. …

    The Devil possess man,who was living in the tomb,was delivered by Jesus; and that same day turn soul winner. A mad man now a preacher of the gospel same day.

    In Luke 8:39-40 The whole city was waiting for Jesus,what a fruitful witnessing by a day old convert.

[39] Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him. [40] And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him. …

    Nobody can argue  with your personal encounter testimony.What is wrong,why the believers of many years can not witness.  We need to work on this before we think of soul winning or evangelism.

 (III) CONVERSATION OF A SOUL WINNER

     Let's now look at some details about sharing the gospel.

    A.Sharing personal Testimony

    One powerful way of sharing the gospel to win soul is by our personal testimony. Your life experience with Christ.

The two powerful example we have considered have these three elements.

         1.Your life before you met Jesus

         2. How you met Jesus

         3. Your life since you met Jesus.

 If you can't explain these three areas of your life you can't win soul by your testimony.

     B.Sharing the Gospel truths.

         1.God love the the world (sinners).John 3:16 KJV

[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

         2.Man separated from God because of sin.Romans 3:23 KJV

[23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Isaiah 53:6 KJV

[6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Romans 6:23 KJV

[23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

         3.Jesus is the only way of salvation.

Romans 5:8,18 KJV

[8] But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 

John 14:6 KJV

[6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

          4.Receive Jesus by personal invitation

John 1:12 KJV

[12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Revelation 3:20 KJV

[20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

****We must make sure we lead them in the prayer of acceptance of Jesus into their lives.

 (IV) CONSOLIDATION OF SOUL WON  (FOLLOW UP)

  This is another area the church fails. When we preach to people,and they make decision for Christ;we fail to go again and bring them up in the word of God. We expected to come to church by themselves. What we do is like abandoning a new born baby to grow by itself.What should we do?

      1.Pray for them to be established in the faith.

Philippians 1:4-6 KJV

[4] Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, [5] For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; [6] Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

      2.Visit them,to build them up in the faith.

 Teach them about assurance of salvation.They need to be sure that Jesus has come in to their lives.Rev 3:20; their sins are forgivenCol 1:14;they are now a child of God John 1:12;they now have eternal life.1John 5:11-13. They need to know how to read the Bible and how to pray.2 Pet 2:2

 All the above may even be done before they start coming to church,and in the church if they have started coming

CONCLUSION 

Ezekiel 33:7-9 KJV

[7] So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. [8] When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man , thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. [9] Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. …

Romans 10:13-14 KJV

[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. [14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

 You and me God has made a watchman over the world to win them to Him. He is holding us responsible.

INTRODUCTION

Our life time is like a borrowed money to be used to trade,with the expectation to return the money with interest or profit.

1.JESUS IS COMING BACK

[13] Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

+Nobody knows the year,month,day and the exact time that He is COMOING again.

2. YOU ARE HIS SERVANT WITH  HIS GOODS.

Matthew 25:14-15 KJV

[14] For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. [15] And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. …

+ Every one of us is call to serve.

+ Every one of us have a talent .

3.WE ARE CALLED TO WORK WITH OUR GIFT

[16] Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. [17] And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. [18] But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. …

+ IT IS EITHER YOU WORK WITH YOUR GIFT OR YOU BURY IT

4.YOU WILL BE CALLED TO GIVE ACCOUNT.

[19] After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. [20] And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. [21] His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. [22] He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 5.YOU WILL BE REWARDED ACCORDING TO YOUR SERVICE.

MAtthew 25:19-25.

+ What you did is what you will be rewarded for,as you see them rewarded in these parable.

+ You can't receive profit on work you didn't do,but judgement.

 Which one are you expecting? Reward or judgement . It is not a wish or prayer, but what your service to God and humanity.

INTRODUCTION

Prayer move the hand that move the world. The power of prayer to God is as powerful as God.Instances that looks impossible answers to prayer.This is because God honours and answers the prayer of His people. We shall look at such instances in the Bible that we can believe and enjoys such Gods incredible acts in our lives as His faithful.

1.ANGEL DELIVERS LOT BECAUSE OF                                 ABRAHAM PRAYER

  A. God determine to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah .

[17] And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; [18] Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? [19] For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord , to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. [20] And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

   B. Abraham interceded for Sodom & Gomorrah.(Especially for Lots family)

B.A judgement passed.

3.GOD EXPECT YOUR PRAYERS TO WORK WONDERS.

A.God want to do new things,but expect you to pray.

Isaiah 43:19-22 KJV

[19] Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. [20] The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. [21] This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. [22] But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. …

B.With faith and prayer,you will have what you want.

CONCLUSION.

Prayer can do all things. God is waiting for your prayer of faith today. This month God will do new and wonderful things. He will do these in answer to your prayer of faith.

INTRODUCTION:

Gods expectation for us is to climb to the top of the ladder of spiritual growth. If we are just after the flesh we shall die; but only when we are in the spirit that we shall live. We want to consider some spiritual exercises that will enhance our reaching the top in spiritual growth

[ I ] PRESENT YOURSELF A LIVING SACRIFICE

Romans 12:1-2 KJV

[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

@ Surrender yourself as a sacrificial lamb to God. A living sacrifice

@ Make yourself worthy for his acceptance. Be holy and acceptable.

@ Make yourself different from the world. Be transformed.

[ II ] PURSUE DEEP RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

[10] That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; [11] If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. [12] Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. [13] Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

@ Pursue to be like him. Fellowship of his suffering and death.Always looking up to his standard,with the mind that I am not there yet. Vs 10-12

@ Pursue as somebody running for a prize. Vs 13

[ III ] PERMIT YOUR HEART (DESIRE) TO BE IN HEAVEN.

Colossians 3:1-4 KJV

[1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
